Thursday 19th September, 6 -8:30pm – Tender Knights performance by Craig Sinclair and Piotr Marchewka.

Tender Knights is a durational performance, a laboratory of love, a battlefield of new ways of encountering each other against heteronormative and hierarchical narrations. In this durational performance, we aim to queer the notion of chivalry, exploring new ways of relating to one another. Tender Knights want to reimagine the space between us and create new rituals that will help to ensure we are all mutually related and becoming.

This performance is for adults only.

The Rule Makers by Will Dickie: an improvisation of rule creation and distribution by the rule makers. Who gets to make the rules? And who gets to hear them? And what happens to the rules when we recklessly pass them around? 3 performers will work without break – scouring the depths of their tired minds – for rules that can be written, remembered, spoken, heard, recorded and read.

Queering The Knight by Pierce Starre: The timeless chivalric ethos is explored through the contemporary queer perspective. Queering the Knight serves as a platform for challenging traditional ideals of honour and valour, prompting dialogue on gender, sexuality, and social narratives. By reimagining the iconic figure of the knight, viewers are invited to explore the rich tapestry of human experience and celebrate diversity.

At Birkenhead Priory from Friday 19th September: Audio walk by Kris Darby

Return to the Green is an audio walk where listeners are cast as the ghost of the mythical Gawain, arriving at the Green Chapel to meet the Green Knight once more. However, it has been over 600 years since their last visit and the earthen mound of the chapel is now the ruins of Birkenhead Priory. With humanity now only a spectral presence, the world has returned to the green.
