“Williamson Art Gallery & Museum”

The Williamson houses collections of ceramics from the region, maritime history and a vast collection of oil and watercolour paintings, exhibitions of local and national significance and in recent years, has been developed as an event venue for music, drama and family occasions including weddings.

Since the threat of closure a number of years ago, the building has transformed into a hub, at the heart of the creative community of Wirral as well as bringing touring exhibitions to the region.

Alison Bailey Smith, Community relations officer for the Williamson and Priory Friends said of the gallery and museum:

“As well as offering space to showcase the collections belonging to Wirral and exhibitions of artwork with strong ties to the area, the venue has in recent years been part of touring exhibitions and festivals. These online galleries reflect a small proportion of what goes on in the galleries, art room and outside spaces”
