About this objectEtching depicting various figures, seated and standing in a wine farm. The etching has been executed in a rough style and the majority of its top half is almost entirely in darkness.
This work was made by Sir David Young Cameron (1865–1945), who was a distinguished Scottish painter and etcher, renowned for his evocative landscapes and architectural studies. Born in Glasgow to Reverend Robert Cameron and Margaret Robertson, he was educated at The Glasgow Academy and later studied at both the Glasgow School of Art and the Edinburgh School of Art. Cameron gained early acclaim as a printmaker, producing over 500 etching plates during his career, making him one of the foremost figures in the ‘Etching Revival’.
