About this objectLarge wooden sculpture, featuring a small woman on an elongated base, with a boulder on top of her head.
A common theme within the work of Kowal Post, the boulder in this piece represents the burden of the biological role of women. In the artist's own words: 'the burden the woman carries is the biological role that is expected of her. Seemingly unaware of the boulder on her head she bears the weight with resignation and quiet dignity as her body ages. Much of my work is about women, the reality of women’s lives, how our biology and culture have an impact on our lives; how we have been seen and portrayed, and how we want to be seen.'
