About this objectNicholas Horsfield taught at the Liverpool College of Art between 1956 and 1982. During this time, he lived with his wife, Brenda, in Crosby. The scenery in Crosby, and the surrounding areas such as Hightown and Blundellsands, were often used for his landscape paintings. This work is one of a few depicting these areas, they feature the rolling dunes of the Merseyside coastline. An obituary in the Independent wrote of this subject matter: “The light and mood here inspired a “local” phase in his landscape oeuvre.”
