About this objectKnown as an “artist’s artist”, Horsfield would also make his name through his teaching post at the Liverpool College of Art between 1956 and 1982. A former student, Mike Knowles, wrote in Horsfield’s obituary that his tenure was part of a ‘splendidly anarchic art school spirit’. As a teacher, Horsfield wanted to allow his students to be independent and unique, standing off to only offer advice when needed.
