About this objectAlthough Nicholas Horsfield practiced life drawing throughout his life, it during the latter stages of his teaching career where the style would become a hallmark of his legacy. Horsfield, a teacher at the Liverpool College of Art for over two decades, ran open life-drawing classes for students from across the school. He was known for only delivering advice or instruction when absolutely necessary, allowing unique styles such as his own to flourish. This relaxed attitude can be seen in his own draughtsmanship, with a loose and sketchy style to all his life drawings in the Williamson collection.
