About this objectNicholas Horsfield, born in Surrey, would become one of the most prominent figures in Post-War art in the North West of England. He first gained a deep knowledge of art in the area as an Arts Council Regional Arts Officer for the North West, a role served in from 1948 to 1956. Following this, Horsfield would then work as a teacher at the Liverpool College of Art from 1956 and 1982. With these jobs, his deep passion for his subject matter, and his own distinctive style of painting and draughtsmanship, he was responsible for developing a radical and challenging art scene in Liverpool.
