About this objectThis jar is a valuable new addition to the collection due to the circumstances of its creation. The company was invited to the Cork International Exhibition of 1902 and crafted pieces on site, including this one, with local clay. The Irish influence can be seen with the Gaelic inscription running around the rim. Interestingly, we do not know the names of the artists who created and decorated this piece, as the inscription on its bottom, ‘GHS after GG’ is an unknown maker’s mark. Although there is a possibility that this could have been a guest artist from Ireland.
