About this objectLucy, who was born in Chester, specialised in painting with 20% public art at Winchester School of Art, since which she has taken a multidisciplinary approach to her artwork.
‘Much of my abstract painting focuses on the idea of a place. A place that inhabits a moment of transition from one state to another, which could be described as being in a state of flux. The world I inhabit and have a fascination for, is often characterised by urban decay or post-industrialisation, and illustrates the transitory nature of man’s presence.
As time and history collects in layers upon our environment, I assemble my paintings one mark, one technique, one process after another. These range from free intuitive gestures to more hard-edged ordered printmaking processes. This assembly method utilises the interplay between control and unpredictability.'
