Due to a reference to a 'Miss Furniss' in the diary of Charles Collis, it has been assumed that the maker's mark 'MF' is from this designer. However, tracking down the identity of this woman has been difficult, with some candidates, such as a 'May Furniss', having doubts in their likelihood as the mystery artist.
