About this objectHillhouse is a former Curator of the Williamson as well as a painter in his own right, several of his paintings are now part of the collection. This is a celebration of probably the oldest topiary garden in the world, with many elements being over 300 years old. Topiaries, the practice of pruning trees and shrubs into distinct or geometric shapes, mark a blurring of gardening and art, as gardeners take on the role of sculptors, creating abstract or even figurative forms in their spaces.
