About this objectThis portrait depicts Colonel Vincent Ashfield King, a master of the Royal Rock Beagles, a pack of beagles used to hunt hare in Rock Ferry. Known as 'Ould King', he was a founder member of the Hunt in 1845 and was master from 1853 until his death in 1882.
The painting was presented to King's wife by other hunting members in 1880, in order to mark his 70th birthday.
