About this objectJohn Finnie (1829-1907) was a Scottish painter and engraver. Between 1855 and 1896 he worked in Liverpool, where he was the head of the Liverpool Mechanics Institute and School of Art.
Finnie was known for his mezzotint engravings of landscapes. He made such an engraiving after this painting - a print of which was presented to the Williamson by Finnie's former student, Constance Copeman.
