About this objectJean-Baptiste-Louis Guy (1824-1888) was a French painter, draughtsman, etcher, lithographer, caricaturist, and portraitist. Guy belonged to the Lyon school of etchers, and studied under Jean-Claude Bonnefond in 1844-46 at the Ecole des beaux-arts in Lyon.
Many of his pictures, like this painting, depict idyllic rural scenes with a focus on cattle.
