Taster Course – September

About This Project

Come and learn a new skill in our inspirational surroundings this September, in our new term of Pamela Sullivan’s art taster course.

This course is a little taster of a variety of different techniques and media and has been created for both beginners and those who are more confident with their art work. We will cover different drawing and painting techniques using a variety of media including the use of graphite pencil, charcoal, acrylic and watercolour paint. We will also cover some basic print making techniques mono and lino cut printing as well as collagraph.

Sessions are tutor led with a short 20 minute to half an hour tutorial and demonstration of newly introduced techniques or medium at the beginning.  Students are encouraged to ask questions and try out new techniques and media during each session.

Each session will be set up with primary or secondary source reference materials based on the requirements of the group, examples of this could be artefacts from the Williamson collections, portraiture, organic forms such as flowers, drawing in the built environment; visiting Birkenhead Priory and so on.

The course will run on Fridays, 10am-12pm, from Friday 20th September.  The course will run for 10 weeks, with a week’s half-term in October.

All adult courses are £55.  This works out to be a bargain at £2.75 per hour! Payable in full in advance.  To reserve a place and for information on future sessions, leave a message for Pamela on  0151 666 3537 or email pamela.sullivan@hotmail.co.uk.

The classes are held in our specially equipped art room for most of our sessions.  We have specially designed tables which can be raised or lowered for wheelchair users.

Initially materials and equipment will be provided but you will be expected to buy your own as the courses progress.  A materials list and advice on best products to buy will be given during the first few weeks of the course.  The gallery has an excellent art shop ArtFix, there is a 10% discount for students on Williamson-based courses.

The gallery has an excellent café which offers a discount on hot drinks for Williamson and Priory Friends.
