March 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the death of Albert Richards.
An Official War Artist and D-Day hero, he was born in Liverpool and attended the Wallasey School of Art before enlisting in 1940. In honour of this anniversary, the Williamson is holding an exhibition that will last throughout 2025 which celebrates Richards’ eclectic work.This talk by Ged Clarke, a journalist who has worked for the BBC and ITV, will discuss the fascinating history behind one of the Wirral’s best artists. Outlining his beginnings as a budding artist in the Wirral, his brief time at the Wallasey School of Art, and his brave decision to become a paratrooper in 1943.
