Title: An Encounter with George Jardine

Wallasey’s own surrealist/fantasy painter was a very well-known figure in the Merseyside art scene, teaching at Liverpool School of Art for over 40 years.

Our Curator Colin Simpson will talk about his memories of the artist, his background, interests and influences, and give an introduction to his extraordinary imagination.

There will be a panel discussion on aspects of the evolution of Liverpool’s art world since 1960 will take place at The Bluecoat on August 17, 6pm-8pm relating to the adjoining exhibition “The Dinner Party”. For more information on the Liverpool event,  please click here.

The Williamson Talks programme is free but donations are welcomed to support the work of the charity who organise these auxiliary events. We encourage you to join the Friends today by emailing the Friends committee williamsonandprioryfriends@gmail.com to request more information or download the forms from the Friends Page on this website. Membership runs from January to December and can be paid by cheque or cash annually or by standing order. FRIENDS receive newsletters and private view invitations as well as being entitled to discounts in several partnered businesses in Liverpool and Wirral.
