Title: Out of the Past: The Dinner Party Revisited
Please join The Williamson & Priory Friends for a free guided tour of the gallery’s summer show, The Dinner Party: Of Time and Place on Saturday 5th August, 11am.
The gallery’s guest curators will offer an informal and informative guide to Liverpool’s Bohemian art scene of the 1960s-70s. Focusing on works by the five artists represented in the show – Arthur Ballard, Maurice Cockrill, Adrian Henri, Don McKinlay and Sam Walsh.
The exhibition is based on the characters painted by Walsh in his fictional gathering The Dinner Party (1980), and traces the personal and professional lives of the featured artists, who shared careers in the Liverpool College of Art Foundation Studies department, exhibitions with the Liverpool Academy and experiences in the pubs, coffee bars and houses of Liverpool 8.
A panel discussion on aspects of the evolution of Liverpool’s art world since 1960 will take place at The Bluecoat on August 17, 6pm-8pm. For more information on the Liverpool event, please click here.
