For almost 90 years, this outside/inside heart of the gallery has been derelict and without purpose. The building lacks a secure outdoor area and the planned garden offers the potential for a usable and adaptable outdoor space. This would considerably increase the attractiveness of the gallery, offering a green haven to visitors, local residents and anyone who needs a moment of quiet, as well as providing a venue for family celebrations and corporate events.
Our aim is to bring this space, ‘The Quad”, into use as The Green Gallery, where all visitors can sit freely to enjoy the plants and sculpture, or even to take inspiration from the surroundings for their own artwork.
The Wirral Museums Service, fully supported by the Friends, provides summer courses for children and also works with disadvantaged groups including people with mental, sensory and physical difficulties so an outside “break-out space” will be a major and essential asset.
We need your support to turn this idea into a growing, living, blooming wonderful space. We have been very successful in getting local sponsorship and grants but we have also attracted individual donations from the public.
To donate to The Quad Appeal personally, please donate through our Just Giving account;-
or donate within the gallery, using one of our special envelopes. Please don’t forget to fill in the requested details for GIFTaid and posting them into our donation boxes around the gallery.
To organise a corporate fundraising event within the gallery to raise money for the Quad or to sponsor a specific part of the development please contact the charity:- Williamsonandprioryfriends@gmail.com or ring and leave a voice message on 0151 666 3665
Your contribution will be acknowleged on our ever growing vine in the cafe, with hand made leaves made by Friends and instigated by our membership secretary, Pat Foden. The leafy structure will hopefully be updated soon but we are concious of making demands on curatorial staff’s time to assist with frequent updates so please bear with any delays.
STOP PRESS: PHASE ONE has already started with hard landscaping happening…paths and raised beds created and hard stand for seating area.
